Step into the production workshop of Kunshan Yingliyue Electronics, and you’ll witness a remarkable scene: inside a high-vacuum chamber, an invisible “magic” is quietly unfolding. Ordinary metal, plastic, or ceramic components, through a series of physical transformations, “grow” a uniform, dense, and functionally specialized thin film on their surfaces. This is the essence of Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) technology.

PVD: Not a Coating, But Growth at the Atomic Level

If traditional electroplating is like “putting a suit of clothes” on a part, then PVD is more akin to “growing a layer of skin” at the atomic level.

The principle is not complex, yet remarkably ingenious: in a vacuum environment, we use thermal evaporation or sputtering to “break down” solid materials into gaseous atoms or molecules. These particles fly freely in the vacuum and eventually deposit onto the substrate surface, condensing and growing layer by layer to form a film with properties far superior to the substrate itself.

  • Thermal evaporation is like “cooking” the material into vapor using a heat source, depositing it in a straight line.

  • Sputtering, on the other hand, is more like using high-energy particles to “knock” atoms off a target, resulting in higher kinetic energy and a denser film structure.

It is this purely “physical process” that endows PVD with advantages unattainable by traditional methods: low-temperature processing, allowing temperature-sensitive plastics and polymers to don their “metal armor”; extremely wide material compatibility, enabling the deposition of metals, alloys, and ceramics; and most importantly, film thickness controllable to the nanometer scale, as precise as “meticulous carving” in the atomic world.

Applying functionalization mechanisms, we enable glass to possess optical anti-reflection, conductivity, and anti-fingerprint properties—AR films, ITO films, and DLC (diamond-like carbon) coatings have all become “standard weapons” on our production lines.
